Originally from Jakarta, Indonesia; pianist Francesca Prihasti is a remarkably gifted musician. She completed a Bachelor of Music (Jazz performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2012 where she held an International Student Merit Scholarship.
Francesca has studied with the likes of Judy Bailey, Kevin Hunt, Mike Nock, Greg Coffin, John Harkins, Matt McMahon, Aaron Goldberg (USA) and Aaron Parks (USA). Now based in Sydney, Francesca has made an impression on the local scene, performing with some of Australia’s best Jazz musicians notably Dave Goodman, Richard Maegraith, Carl Dewhurst, James Waples and Dale Barlow. In addition, Francesca performs regularly with her quartet, featuring the accomplished Dave Goodman on drums and two rising star musicians David Groves (double bass) and Nic Vardanega (guitar).
Her ensemble has performed at various jazz venues in Sydney such as the Jazzgroove Association, Venue 505, Foundry 616, Colbourne Avenue, Dome Bar, and the Manly Jazz Festival. Francesca presents her original compositions and arrangements of favourite standards, imbued with her poise and crystalline focus. Her original music seeks to align with her artistic vision; evoking the conjuring of various rhythms, sophisticated harmony and lyrical melody while drawing upon a wide range of jazz, latin, classical, pop, folk, and ethnic musical traditions.
